Ruto nominates late Baringo Senator Cheptumo’s widow Hanna Wendot as Gender CS

Wendot and Ruku will now be vetted by the National Assembly before they can take up their new positions.
President William Ruto has nominated Hanna Wendot, the wife of the late Baringo Senator William Cheptumo, as the Cabinet Secretary for Gender.
The docket has remained vacant since September 2024 after the National Assembly rejected the last CS nominee to the ministry.

At the same time, Ruto has nominated Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku to be the Public Service CS, replacing Justin Muturi, who has been at loggerheads with the president over recent unexplained abductions.
Wendot and Ruku will now be vetted by the National Assembly before they can take up their new positions.
If approved, their names will be forwarded to the head of state for appointment.
